Scotland: North Coast 500

Dunrobin-castle

The North Coast 500, Scotland (NC500) is a scenic road of over 830 kilometers that begins and ends at Inverness (be sure to pose for some shots, because there is a fantastic view). You do not have to go through it all, of course, but it will be hard for you to resist the temptation! The route collects all the best elements of the Northern Highlands, following wild coastal roads, historic towns like Ullapool and pretty seaside villages. You can also stop at John O’Groats, famous for being the most northerly to the north of Britain.

The itinerary was designed by the “Highland Initiative North“, a non-profit organization founded by Prince Charles.

Places we stayed in Scotland:

Ceol Na Mara B&B, Allanfearn, Inverness

Tigh Air A Chnoc B&B, West Helmsdale, Helmsdale

The Strathy Inn, Strathy by Thurso, Strathy

The Altnacealgach Motel, Altnacealgach, Lairg
